The joy is in the journey ...

Cookbooks ...

Even a writer has to eat. Being creative in the kitchen naturally lent itself to a few cookbooks, all of which are out of print, though I'm planning to bring my first one back--Really Good Recipes. I started writing cookbooks when I had writer's block in a big way; it was more like brain burn-out. When the words wouldn't come, I went into my kitchen to eat, but the fridge was empty because I'd been so busy writing the words that weren't there that I neglected to go grocery shopping. One thing led to another and I ended up in a culinary arts class and wrote four cookbooks while I was there. I didn't become a chef because by that time my words were calling me to come back, but I did continue to cook and write recipes.

I've got a few cookbooks simmering in my mind and on paper. My newest cookbook is Foods and Flavors of San Antonio. It's filled with Tex-Mex recipes and an armchair tour of all the attractions and flavorful fiestas this city has to offer. Please visit my Foods and Flavors of San Antonio blog for really great recipes and to read more about it.
